SCULPTURES & HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS CONSERVATION

The Department of Objects Conservation treats a wide range of three-dimensional art objects and artifacts at our Center and on-site.

Staff conservators perform condition assessment, documentation, and conservation treatments on a variety of historic and artistic artifacts including:

space

  • indoor and outdoor sculpture
  • fine and decorative-art objects
  • archeological, ethnographic, and historic artifacts
  • contemporary artworks

The Objects Department also provides services related to collections and preventative care. Conservators design and facilitate the fabrication of custom mounts; perform facilities and collections surveys including outdoor collections; and provide consultations and services related to storage and transport. Conservators are available to conduct training workshops on issues of importance to institutions and private owners alike, including safe care and handling practices; materials and methods of packing, storage, display and transportation; and annual maintenance and preservation of outdoor sculpture.
