ART CONSERVATION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Education is central to the mission of the Williamstown + Atlanta Art Conservation Centers. We train the next generation of conservators through paid internships at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as paid post-graduate fellowships.

Opportunities include:

  • Pre-program internship: For individuals with an undergraduate degree who wish to go on to study conservation at the graduate level, this program provides the necessary experience and hours required for graduate admission. Previous experience or academic background in the fine arts, art history, or the sciences is recommended. Those that are applying for a pre-program internship should list the departments they are interested in. The ability to work with different departments may be available.

  • Third-year internship & Second-year summer internship: For individuals who have completed two years of graduate study and require the third-year practicum of supervised experience, or a summer internship before the third-year practicum, in order to earn their degrees, this experience is tailored to the student’s chosen specialization.

  • Post graduate fellowship: For individuals with a graduate degree seeking advanced experience in their specialty, when available, fellowships in each department are tailored to both the individual’s interests and experience.

Internship and fellowship availability is determined by workflow and staffing. Though we cannot guarantee available positions every year, we are always open to inquiries.
