OUR EDUCATIONAL MISSION

As a regional center, part of our mission is to advocate for awareness about preservation and educate a future generation of conservators and museum professionals.

Staff members teach an annual course on professional techniques and standards in conjunction with the Clark Art Institute and Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art.

The Judith M. Lenett Memorial Fellowship is awarded to a second-year student in the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art and offers the opportunity for a student who has previously taken our graduate class to conduct focused research in conservation.

WACC offers pre- and post-graduate internships to young conservators from institutions with accredited art conservation programs. The Center regularly conducts research, collaborates on international projects, and hosts conservators from countries as diverse as the Netherlands, Romania, and Mongolia.

Through its semi-annual publication The Art Conservator, WACC promotes conservation practices and increases awareness of issues pertinent to collections care.

In addition, our various departments offer professional development and preservation workshops for conservators and museum professionals. Please see our Facebook page or sign up for our annual newsletter for announcements about upcoming workshops.

We also offer scheduled tours to classes or small groups at Stone Hill Center on the Clark Art Institute Campus. If you are interested in scheduling a tour for your students or small group, please contact us.
