Briann G. Greenfield, PhD, appointed Executive Director of the Williamstown + Atlanta Art Conservation Centers

Nov 20, 2025 – (Williamstown, MA) -The Williamstown + Atlanta Art Conservation Centers (W+AACC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Briann G. Greenfield, PhD, as Executive Director.Dr. Greenfield joins W+AACC from the National Endowment for the Humanities where she held the post of Division Director, Preservation and Access.

 

Dr. Greenfield has an extensive background in leadership, historical scholarship, collections management, and grant making. At the NEH her responsibilities included managing a broad portfolio of grant programs, advancing core collection management and care, and accessing practices to make the nation’s archival and museum collections widely available for a variety of uses.  This experience is perfectly matched to W+AACC’s mission.

 

Dr. Greenfield gained degrees in History from the University of New Hampshire and completed both her Masters in American Civilization/Museum Studies and PhD in American Civilization from Brown University.

Dr. Greenfield takes up the position at a pivotal and exciting stage in W+AACC’s development. Since opening in 1977, the Center has built a reputation as a place of excellence for analytics and the conservation of paintings, objects, furniture, frames, and works on paper.
